Mercedes-Benz presented on December 8, 1982 the W201 model that is part of the success story of the C-Class, with all vehicles in this segment being designated since 1993.

Innovative in technology and design, it has successfully established itself in world markets and reached several historic milestones as a vehicle for competition in the German Tourism Championship (DTM). Currently the W201 is an extremely popular young classic and as attractive as it was when it first debuted.

 

Better known as the "190" or "Baby-Benz", the model celebrated its debut with two four-cylinder petrol engines: 190 was the designation initially assigned to the version equipped with a 90 hp engine. of power. The 190 E petrol with injection system produced 122 hp. of power.

The 190 E 2.3-16 also demonstrated its sporting abilities at the inauguration of the new Nürburgring circuit: on May 12, 1984, 20 drivers inaugurated the new circuit with a test at the wheel of this vehicle. The winner was the Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna. The top of the range was high-performance 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II (235 hp).

This model also formed the basis for the successful competition vehicle that has participated in the German Tourism Championship (DTM) since 1990.
